The New Year - Abigail Joy
She really is a "joy" to have around. So smart and always thinking of new ideas. She loves being a big sister to Rett and he loves her (even though she knows how to get under his skin already!). One of her favorite things to do is play house with him - either he's her prince, husband, or little brother. She loves to "set up house" anywhere and everywhere, build "house forts", and take care of her baby doll. One of the kid's favorite places to play is in my big bath tub, whether it's full of water or not. Abby still loves to draw, color, and paint. When she's not doing art or playing with Rett or "house", she loves movies. Some of her recent favorites have been: Oklahoma!, White Christmas, Music Man, and Mary Poppins. So much for all those cartoon movies we gave her for Christmas! And since Dad got his new laptop, she loves to play games with him at night (after Rett is asleep of course) on pbskids.org. She likes to help out (or just watch whatever I'm doing) in the kitchen, take baths with Brother (as we typically call him), and read books with Mom and Dad before bedtime. And she's still attending her dance class eveyr Friday morning. She can write the entire alphabet (in caps) and her numbers from 0 to 10. Hence, she's all ready for Preschool to begin this Fall! We are signing her up tomorrow to attend at a neighbors on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She's a bit nervous about the other kids and whether the teacher's husband is going to be there during the day. But other than that, she's excited "to go to school"!
Though we tend to have our differences at times, Abby and I are really good friends. We love to talk while I get ready in the morning, paint our nails together, and share a slice of pizza at Costco. I'm grateful to have her as my right-hand everyday best-friend. She means worlds to me! Here's to 2011, Abby. One of my favorite quotes that hangs above my computer and reminds me of the future of our children is "Give me a place to stand and I can move the world." I hope my kids will be confident in who they are and what they stand for. I'm grateful my parents gave me such confidence. And though I'm not "moving the world" I'm trying to help move the world of these precious ones.

Abby is growing up so fast!! She definitely knows what is going on around her and can charm her way wherever she goes with that smile. It was fun to be with her this last week and get a little attention without all of the other cousins. Tell her Grandma Joyce misses her also.
WOW! I'm so impressed that Abby can already write her alphabet and numbers. She is one smart little lady! I love that you and Matt read the scriptures with just her at night. You guys are doing a fabulous job, and your kids are sooo blessed to have you as their parents!
