10 Year Anniversary!

No, not my wedding anniversary, or my first date with Matt.  Ten years ago TODAY I had brain surgery.  And I'm still kickin'.  It's so hard to believe what happened so many years ago.  I would post pictures of the crazy day, but I looked kind of crazy myself.  In fact, my pictures are hiding in a place no one will ever know.  Can you imagine a head half-shaved, unable to open one eye, lots of swollen tissue, and a bloody scar no one wants to have on any part of their body.  I remember looking into the mirror for the first time and crying while asking my mom if I'll ever look "normal" again.  She simply responded with these words... "At least you still have eyes to see."  And now I look at my life today and wonder who that person was and how I am able to be the person I am now.  Hallelujah to modern medicine and the technologies that doctors and hospitals are able to provide.  Wow.  All I have to say is a big "Thank You."

Oh my heck...ten years ago! I was just thinking about my surgery along the same lines. I remember visiting you in the hospital and giving you a kiss on the cheek because you were asleep. I love you!

Andrea,

I still can't believe how brave you were to go through all of that. You handled everything so maturely and with such faith. You were an inspiration to us all!

I didn't know anything about this! So, you definitely look "normal" to me.

Wow Ang, that means you'd just had this surgery a year before I met you. I can't believe that!
So so SO glad you made it through and were there to be such an awesome example to me and friend for the last NINE years. (WOW.)
