October 2012

We are a little behind in the blogging world, but here goes nothing!
October looked a little something like this:

One of Abby's and Rett's favorite new cartoon is "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood." It's a cartoon based on the original "Mr. Roger's". It's so full of ideas to help kids learn important values and use their creativity. In one episode Daniel and his friend wanted to go to the beach, but due to rain they had to come up with another plan. So they decided to make a beach inside their house! They used a blue blanket for the water, and a tan one for their beach. Abby and Rett did the same thing and even got their beach chairs and toys. These two love each other and play so well together (well, most of the time.:)). I'm so grateful they have one another.

Matt loves to Canyoneer and will go whenever he has the chance. One Saturday we all decided to join in on the fun. Abby did so well at climbing up the rock and then repelling down.

When we got home, Matt set up the tent in the backyard. He and the kids slept in it and I brought them breakfast in the morning.

While Matt and Abby repelled earlier that day, Rett hung out with a kid named Tyler. He and his family were there doing the same thing and Matt just so happens to home-teach them!

Saturday was also a day for yard clean-up. Matt cut a few tree branches and the kids decided to bring one inside.

One night we went to Hurricane to watch their high school play Delta High in regional football. Go Rabbits!

Rett has enjoyed using our old camera to practice his picture-taking skills. Its been fun to go back and see his works of art.

The kids favorite part of the game was the rabbit mascot. Rett followed him wherever he'd go so that he could just give him another high-five.

Matt brought a projector home from work and set it up in our backyard. He put a white bed sheet on our cinderblock wall and we watched the movie "Smurfs". Rett and Abby both wanted to cuddle with Mom. Hard to do with a 35 week pregnant belly!

Grandma Linda's birthday was in October. So she and Grandpa, Natalie and her family, Kathryn and her family, and our family met for dinner at Chuck-a-Rama to celebrate. Afterwards, we followed Matt's clues for a scavenger hunt. Once we got to each clue's destination, Grandma read notes/memories of her that each child and grandchild wrote for her special day. It was a lot of fun and I think Grandma felt pretty special!

Love what Abby and Rett did with their "beach!" Hattie also loves that show to the point where she knows all the songs...literally..."If you have to go potty, stop, and go right away...flush and wash and be on your way!" She made a "jungle dance" the other day and insisted I watch her perform:)

So cute how they play together...gotta love that sister/brother friendship!

That was such a clever idea of the beach with the blue and tan blankets. Abby is just clever in the first place. And as far as repelling goes, I didn't do that until I was at BYU. Way to go, Abby!!!
