Matt's 30th Birthday Wish...
was to hike Angel's Landing in Zion National Park. And he did. Even though it freaked me out.. he still did it. I reminded him that our first son was on the way, but he did it anyways. I would have been fine if he hadn't told me that two people die every year hiking Angel's Landing. He said at one point on the trail, you are walking on a narrow path with only a chain handrail between you and a 10,000 foot drop-off. Like Abby says, "It's kind of scary." But he did it and had a great time. And what made it even better was his dad hiked right along with him.. well, until they got to the most dangerous part. You are a smart man, David. Although it would have been nice to know that you were behind him all the way.. just in case something did happen. :) I'm just glad you both made it back in complete packages.

The view from the top!

After the hike, we had a late lunch at one of our favorite places in Springdale (just south of Zion). Oscars - a must-eat when you're visiting. Great ribs, burgers, and salads. Matt's mom, sister, and her son all joined up for the food part! While we waited for the hike to end, the five of us walked around the small shops to "window shop". Too expensive for our blood. Although I couldn't pass up some Keen sandals for Matt's b-day gift. And of course we couldn't pass the candy shop without having just a taste. Thanks Linda for all the yummy chocolate!

Trey, Natalie, Linda, and Abby (don't you love how she's digging for gold in this pic?)

Trey gave Matt a Warhead candy and his reaction looked just like the picture on the wrapper!

For Matt's Sunday birthday dinner, I made a few of his favs - chicken cordon bleu, funeral potatoes, and Brazilian limeade! For dessert - Razzleberry pie and vanilla ice cream. I have to admit... they're some of my favs too. Birthday food is the best!
For Memorial Day, we went to the beach in the late afternoon (Matt had to work most of the day). It felt great to just relax in the sun and play with lil Abbers in the water and sand. She was so much fun just to watch while Matt and I were finally able to "catch up" with small talk.

love, love, love the last pic of Abby. I feel so bad I didn't call Matt on his birthday. It looks like it was a great day for him though. I hope you can come to the cabin Ang, seriously, I just saw a commercial of the playmill and thought of us there.
love, heath
Happy Birthday Matt! Sorry that it didn't work out for Tom to come and join you on your Birthday hike! Maybe next year!?
