The 4th in Delda
That's right. If you're from Delta, Utah, you say "Delda". Once again, we journeyed North to the land my husband was born and raised. Stayed in Hinckley, celebrated in Delta. It was great to see most of the Ekins clan. We missed you Grovers and hope to spend a 4th with you in the near future. Thanks to everyone else for a grandiose time. I've already got in the books for next year. There's no better place to spend this wondrous holiday. Seriously.
Saturday morning at the parade in downtown Delta:
Abby loved gathering candy with her older cousins Sebrina and Aubrey
The rest of the little tikes: Cody, Sydney, Kate, Trey, Christian
This is when you know you're in Farmville:
The 4th does not exist in my mind without the Delta Demolition Derby! We had so much fun as a group. Thanks everyone for all the good laughs. And a BIG thank you to Grandma for watching the littlest ones!
Matt laughed at me for bringing Abby's princess backpack full of treats. A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do.
And... he's out:
This was the coolest... watching vehicles roll and then having to be flipped by the local firefighters:
Aunt Kathryn has the touch with the babies. This is cute little Zachy with his bright red hair and big blue eyes. So adorable!
On Sunday we had the incredible opportunity to attend a fireside with the author of the book "Reflections on Christ" and Mormon Tabernacle Singer Alex Boye. I was so touched by their pictures and music that it brought me to tears more than once. Afterwards, Matt was talking with their host who just so happens to be the guy who coached Matt's little league baseball team. As they were talking about the good ole days, he invited us over to his home for refreshments. We gladly accepted (thanks again Grandma for watching the kids). Val came over and shared some of her hymn compositions on the piano with the pianist that accompanied during the fireside. After listening to her music we had the priviledge of listening to our own personal fireside with Alex Boye. What a motivational speaker he is. We were all touched, edified, and greatly uplifted. I will never forget this night.
On Monday, we spend most of the day at "The Rez" before heading home. It was a perfect day to be on the water and beach. Matt and Lynn enjoyed waterskiing, we all took rides in the canoe, and Abby and Rett of course enjoyed the sand (Rett a little too much that we finally had to put him in the pack-n-play)! Rett enjoyed the water way more than Abby. He could have swam all day in that cold water. I enjoyed a little swim in my retro wetsuit and snorkel goggles. ;) Ya, I bet you wish you had a picture of that!

It sounds (and looks) like you had a great Fourth of July! I've only been to one demolition derby in Rigby, Idaho, and that was on a date in high school.
BTW: We can't wait to see Abby and Rett this weekend!
Love it. Sounds like an awesome weekend! I'll have to let you borrow our Reflections on Christ DVD...it's really cool to see what went behind the photos. Also, you might already know this (he may have talked about it), but if not, it's always interesting to find out. Did you know that Alex Boye was in a huge boy band in England? They would fill soccer arenas! He gave it all up because it didn't fit with the standards he wanted to keep. Anyway, just a fun fact. P.S. I love that you wrote "Delda". Don't worry, it's not confined to that town, my dear mama says it that way too!
What a fun 4th! I would like to experience a Delda 4th one day. I love small towns. I can 2nd that Alex was in a boy band in England. He and his now wife were in Jon & my's singles ward in SLC before we all got married.(I think Jon went to his Bachelor party or something) Anyway, I remember when I first moved into that ward, he gave an awesome sunday school lesson on the blacks and the priesthood. It was really good coming from him. Glad you had a good time.
