Weekend of FUN in the SUN

Saturday we headed to Zion's as it was the last weekend of "drive at your own risk" around the park. The weather was low 60's - perfect for hiking. With Abby on Dad's back half the time (kudos for her though for making it to the top all the way) and 22 pound Rett on my front the other half of the time, we only did one hike - Emerald Pools. About 1.5 hours. Perfect - nothing more, nothing less. After we hiked, we enjoyed driving around, playing on the grassy area eating snacks, and listening to some good tunes. When we got back into Springdale (small town at the mouth of the Zion's South entrance), we visited with one of Matt's clients and later went to dinner with him at our Springdale fav - Oscar's. We all had yummy Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos. Sunday was beautiful. We enjoyed relaxing, going for a walk, and eating homemade strawberry shortcake. Abby enjoyed playing in the back while we kept the door open all day. Life doesn't get much better than this.

Rett had to wear Abby's sun hat being that his head is too big for his own hat!

This was the point where Abby wanted to turn around and be done! She had had enough.

Keeping Brother warm at "The Upper Pools"

The entrance to "The Narrows"... the camera really doesn't do this place justice. Matt and some friends are planning to do this hike in the Fall.

On our way out of the 1.1 mile "tunnel", we came across this - a wild horned mountain goat

Can you see the moon in the sky? Beautiful at night.

Back at home the next day...

Goldfish lined up

If you look closely, Abby put a small toy in between each pole of the awning's privacy wall. What this kid comes up with I tell ya!

I am so jealous! You are lucky to live so close to Zion. I have been craving a trip to Zion ever since Feb. Especially when it was Spring Break and I couldn't find one warm place within an 8 hour drive from here. I would have given anything to take a 4 hour trip to St. George and Zion. You look great, by the way!

Beautiful! Makes me miss Utah. So funny that Abby likes to line things up. Such a cute habit.

I'm glad you're recording Abby lining things up. Those "line ups" take time and patience. We're excited to see you, Abby and Rett on Monday.

I love Rett's head--reminds me of Bracken's when he was a baby! Perfectly round and beautiful. I also love that Abby lines everything up.....an organized woman---what a talent!! Love that you guys go hiking together, good exercise, memories, and fun!
