Christmas Morning

One of my most favorite parts about Christmas this year was when my dad opened his gift from all seven of his kids. Earlier in the year we asked him what he wanted for Christmas and he said he wanted us to spend the money that we would normally spend on him for a family in need. So we gave the challenge to everyone to pick a family or individual in need for their family to serve and to document it for a book. Not only did each kid document their experience, but they wrote their feelings about Dad and how he has encouraged/motivated them to serve others on a regular basis. He truly has been an inspiration to us all for every day kindness and love to our fellowmen. In addition to the writings, we added pictures in the book of times Dad has been of service to his children and grandchildren (family vacations, going out for ice cream, hanging a swing in the backyard, dancing with his granddaughter, or simply holding another newly precious grandchild). Words can't express how much we love our Dad. And to our blessed amazement, the book arrived on Christmas Eve so he could open it the following morning! Thank you Fedex!

Rita opening a gift from the Ekins (thanks for picking it out Camille!)

Jen sent a surprise gift to each of her sisters - picture boards of our children. And Camille and Hillary gave handmade jewelry to all of the girls as well. My sisters are awesome - thanks for sharing your talents through beautiful gifts.

Adelyn and Elsie were surprised with a bunny rabbit for one of their gifts this year. ALL of the kids instantly fell in love and couldn't get enough. They named the bunny Thumper!

Abby's gift from the Lake's - two snow teddy bears. Thanks Lake family! Abby has had a lof of fun with them. We also love the gift you gave to Matt - Seinfeld DVD Scene It board game.

One of Abby's most beloved gifts of the whole day (she only opened like three of her 10 because she got bored of opening and just wanted to play) was her stuffed Curious George I only paid $5 for! She's too easy to please... lets just hope it stays that way!
