Teens and Respect, Part 2

I've been humbled. There really are good, respectful teens out there. And I discovered one of them last Saturday. It was Ward Temple Day and my friend let us take Abby to her house while her sitter would tend Abby and my friend's kids. My plan was to pay the sitter for three hours. When Matt went to pick Abby up, this 14-year-old refused any amount of money. She told him that she tends for free when it's church-related. Matt tried everything to give this girl the money, but she just smiled and said "please don't worry about it."

This changed me. I wrote this girl a note and made her a treat in which Abby and I delivered a couple of days later. She was sooo appreciative and kept thanking ME! She had a perma-grin on her face and just seemed happy to help out. See what service can do to a person?!

I'll never forget my week with teenage run-ins. I kind of felt like one myself this morning as I went to the DMV office to get my Utah driver's license. I even had to take the test again since my old license had expired. Wow, I'm getting old. By the way, I passed the test - 96%!
