WE DID IT!!!
We ran it. All of it. All 13.1 miles of it. And it felt good. So good. Who ever thought it could be done? When we signed up to run the Indianapolis Mini Marathon, we said that we'd shoot to run maybe half. So the training began in January. And it became an addiction. So we decided to push ourselves to do more.
Matt finished law school in December, but walks at graduation this coming Saturday - one week after the half marathon. And what do you know? The finish line was directly in front of the law school building. We knew this when we signed up and thought how cool it would be to end his law school career by literally crossing the finish line.
What a fun race. Matt was a great running companion. He had so much fun cheering on the bands, dancing with the country western clogging group, jumping over cones, etc. We even knelt down to kiss the brick at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was my biggest motivation the whole way.
The emotions hit the last stretch of the race on New York Street. All the memories of life here in Indianapolis came to mind as well as countless thoughts of what lie ahead... beyond this finish line. Life is one long race that never ends. I just hope I can keep up to cross several more finish lines. My eyes swelled as the race came to an end. We did it. We did it. Amazing what you can do when you want something so bad. It was worth every drop of sweat, every trip to the gym, and everything else in between.
Happy Running.

As tradition stands, we went to Chili's for lunch afterwards to fuel up on large portions and, of course, chocolate molten cake. I think Abby enjoyed that part more than anyone else.

My sweet friend Danielle joined with us. She was my walking partner last year, and we met with her family at Chili's after the race. And that's where it all began. She would have liked to run it with us this year, but is due with her fourth child any day now. She was our biggest cheerleader and always good to show her excitement and support. She WILL run next year. That is, if this really is the last one. :)

Congrats to both of you. What an accomplishment - you inspire me to bounce back and run something next spring/summer. I'll have to adjust to 6,000 ft. elevation and #4, too!
It must be these darn pregnancy hormones, but I am sitting here bawling my eyes out. Hurrah for both of you on so many "finishes". I do wish I could have finished this one with you, but thanks for letting me celebrate with you afterward. You both should be proud of all you have accomplished in the last few years. Now the next race begins and I think you are both ready and prepared. I would wish you luck, but you won't need it!
Congratulations!! I'm so proud of both of you! I wish we could have been there with you. I plan on it next year! What a neat memory to end your time here in Indiana (sob). I love you guys!
That is so awesome that you guys accomplished that! I wish I had that kind of zeal to run a marathon...can you see me doing that? HA HA!
Love you...how is the house selling coming?
Way to go girl! Proud of you! That is a cool analogy to ending your chapter in Indi. So, are you going for the full marathon now? I remember after running a half I thought, "That was cool, but there's no way I could do a whole!" After a few days, I changed my mind and I want to do one someday. We should do the St. George marathon together! Anyway, had to laugh at Abby's sassafrass pic at Chilis. That is you to a T! Love you!
Super fun that you and Matt ran together... that is awesome, congrats!! Are you up for running a full marathon now?!? After my half last spring I felt totally invigorated, such an awesome feeling and sense of accomplishment... So I went for a full that fall (St. George) you should totally do it!! Congrats again and good luck with the move!
Ang! Way to go girl! Proud of ya! Sounds like you guys had fun running together...and celebrating afterwards (I love Chili's!) What are your plans now that Matt is graduating?
Congratulations Andrea and Matt!! That is a lot of work! Don't you feel like you can do anything now? I totally understand the emotional stuff that can catch you off guard while your huffin' and puffin'. You are champions!!
Yay! Congratulations. Sound like it was wonderful and how fun to run it with Matt. And through all those memories.
I just got caught up on your blog (I know, I'm a slacker). Love all the pictures of Abby. Sorry about her black eye. I would agree that watching your baby get hurt has to be the worst thing ever (Hailey just had stitches two weeks ago).
Anyway, once you're in Utah and if you make it up this way, we should meet and go to lunch or something. Let me know if you're interested.
